Meet Devin Wolsey, Branch Manager – Toronto at GUNN!

Devin became part of the GUNN team in 2025, bringing with him valuable experience from his previous role as a director at one of Ontario’s largest independent elevator companies.

Quick. Word association. What words describe you?

Fun, conversational, trustworthy, hard working.

… we like it!! Devin, where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?

I’ve lived all across Canada as my family relocated for my dad’s career in the elevator industry. I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, then moved to Regina, Saskatchewan. Eventually, we settled in Ontario—first in Newmarket, and then in Burlington, where I’ve lived for the past 30 years.

… how cool! Tell us, what are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work & the contribution you can make?

It’s simple — we’re here to help our customers. While our industry can be complex and answers aren’t always easy to come by quickly, we focus on making the journey smoother. We simplify the process and help ensure every project stays on track and is easier to navigate for everyone involved.

Any awards or medals, or even medallions? Personal okay, too.

In 2003, I received the Otis Globe Award for customer service during the North American blackout. Toronto — especially the downtown core — was without power for days, and we faced hundreds of trapped passenger calls. After helping people out of elevators, I stayed on and drove customers home until 5 a.m., since public transit was shut down and many had no other way to get there. It was a challenging time, but we did whatever it took to support our customers.

Congratulations on the award, Devin – you deserved it!

Who is your hero? And
why?

My Mother. She was such a passionate fun-loving and caring person and did her best to battle through early onset Alzheimer. It’s pushed me to be a better person everyday.

Your leadership, industry insight, and dedication to operational excellence continue to strengthen our operations across Ontario.

Share with us in your work or creative process, what concepts are sacred?
Which rules have you made, which ones do you follow?

Honesty, hard work, and clear communication are the three pillars I strive to uphold every day — even when a project or task makes them tough to maintain.

Last, but not least, what’s the most unusal thing in your desk draw?

Allergy pills — even though my doctor says I don’t have any allergies. But I know I do.
